Funny Day

Had to share, today started off blah.. but leave it up to the babies to pick my spirits up. Maddi has a bit of a runny nose and usually during the course of the day they absolutely love to give their Mommy kisses, I mean the biggest, juiciest, wettest kisses so of course today was no exception when Maddi hooked all his fingers in my mouth in an effort to pull my face to his and all I could see coming towards me was a wet drooly mouth, and a very sticky and wet nose ...EWWW.. So I am trying to dodge the kisses and his grip is getting tighter so I gave in cus he was so not giving up plus I was getting blisters in my mouth from his nails and Yup he gave it to me, snot all over my face plus he has to rub it in (getting the visual)  :) Got to love those kisses :)

Now next story, Sani is known for her excessive puking, but today she made a big one and Juno was in the best spot or should I say he was just being Juno he is always right behind me, beside me, if I let him he would lay on top of me. ( We are that close) so needless to say when she puked it landed on Juno's face and was dripping off his nose to the floor. I busted out laughing I couldn't help it I thought it was hilarious.

Only a mom could appreciate this

It's not like I'm going to get any rest on the weekend anyhow, I think it's just the fact that I don't have to be at work you know ...uuugggghhhhhh.
Ok off to work we go, Sani already took her morning nap, now Maddi is down so I guess we will make some phone calls and have some girl time :-)

Have a good day All

The night of a Thousand Cries

Last night was CRAZY.... I mean every hr on the hr a baby was up. Hubby and I normally take turns waking up and checking, but normally it's just for the itchy baby.
We are chalking it up to too much partying and they must have been wired, as they attended their first birthday party. (NOT)
In between waking up every hr around 4:10am when both babies were screaming I had Sani who had her fingers in my nose, mouth, eyes just plucking and pulling away, I heard this very familiar sound coming from my cat.
I panicked ....Crap .... Sweet pea our cat brought us a present. OMG!!!!!!!!
I started hitting hubby to get up and close the door as I know his intentions was to bring that damn critter upstairs.
I heard lots of scampering downstairs from Juno so I knew it was alive, hubby had no luck finding it to my horror, so back to bed we went to again be awakened by screaming babies.
So needless to say we are tired and could really use a nap which is so not going to happen.
Check in tomorrow.

Smiles :-)

What's better than seeing those two, well in my case case four beautiful eyes staring up at you, fingers touching your face, or a finger up your nose or even pulling at your lip. Then here it comes...yup that big beautiful toothy or toothless smile. There is nothing better than it. It warms my heart, it makes my day every time without fail, I just absolutely love it.

I used to pride myself in being a pretty tough mom you know kids not getting away with much you know that kind, it may be my age now who knows but I'm just putty, mush, porridge. One little smile is all it takes now to say OMG he's so sweet or Awww isn't she adorable.

Sani, I think is now finding her voice and realizing that when she fusses she gets what she wants, Yesterday during lunch I have been offering her these little puffs she loves them I actually break one pc into four tiny pieces and she is only allowed 6 whole pcs. Apparently I wasn't giving it to her fast enough as I was also feeding her brother but lo and behold this little girl starts protesting in full out screams and she stiffens her body when she does it and is also staring directly at the container with the puffs then at my hand.

So I'm thinking she couldn't possibly be crying for it could she?, but now thinking back she has done it before when she wants our phone or when her brother has a toy and she wants it she cries, and you know what as soon as she gets what she wants she has the biggest, cutest smile on her face. OMG I'M A SUCKER !!!!!
Oh well, I guess I will work on it, I just have to see past that smile but it's so hard......
Babies I love your smiles :-)

Tag Team Day...

Our day started great this morning with a late wake up for Sani at 6:45am as they both had their last bottles at 6p.m. last evening before they had their dinner of squash and for dessert apples and bananas. Yummy :) So needless to say they both got up to eat; Sani at 2:35am she vigorously sucked that bottle dry and was off to bed. Maddox woke up at 4:45 am again same routine, gave him a bottle and off he went.
I guess this was just the set up of what was to come for the rest of the day.

I woke Maddi at 7:35am as normally we start getting ready for work at 7:30am, fed, face and hands wiped down, little singing time while we get dressed. Practice our sitting ups while they fuss over each other toys, if we are lucky we try to read a book before Nana gives her Good Morning calls, and then its 8:45am and we have to pack our double pillow, with all the stuff we need for the day including numerous bibs, burp cloths and toys and head downstairs to start our day.

By 8:30am Maddi was fast asleep, so Sani and I went downstairs to get started for work she was up until 10:30, by the time I put her down, yup you guessed it Maddi was up. We bounced, we played, we sang their favorite songs right now is Twinkle Twinkle, ABC, Baa Baa Black Sheep I think they love the sound of B and the DO,RE,ME song. After much raspberries and lots of very loud babbling while mommy was trying to make a sale over the phone, he finally laid his head on my shoulder, (Finally I thought) NOT....I hear Sani talking to her self upstairs from the monitor. (She talks herself to sleep and yes she does it too when she wakes up)

So pretty much that's how my day went non-stop, no breaks, plus making phone calls for work and trying to type with both babies in my arms, with one baby tugging at my headset, the other baby trying to eat my notebook or whatever else he or she can find.

They finally had tummy time, then dinner today's menu consisted of Green peas, apples and chicken then to top it off water. Yum Yum. After dinner they had their baths and were both out by 7:15pm HALLELUJAH.

Talk tomorrow
Chris.

I need answers

The last couple of days has been significantly difficult for Maddi, he has been red, wet, itchy and screaming poor baby. The last time we went to the allergist he prescribed Desonate, that didn't work for him so they prescribed for him Desonide for him which is still not working. I have gotten the suggestions to bathe him in Oatmeal tried that over the past week that didn't work.
I called my Pediatrician as we just didn't know what else to do and her answer was "I don't know what to do, I have no other suggestions" Over the weekend when we went to dinner I offered him a squished rice grain which I normally do, half hr later when we got home he was screaming, we ran to pick him up out of his crib and the side of his face was wet and sticky. It was actually his skin which was raw, or he had a reaction to something in my plate.
We immediately called the allergist on call and to our dismay we received the same answers that she did not know what to tell us as infant care was not her specialty. What now ??
I finally reached the allergist today who had us come in, he did more skin tests on him to check for allergies, including shell fish and again they all came back negative, so he is stomped he doesn't know what to tell us, and tells us to continue using the Desonide gel, as it is not strong enough to thin his skin. Which steroid creams sometimes do. We normally use Ammens powder on him as it seems to be the only thing that calms him down periodically so I asked the Dr if there were any long term effects of using it first one was that prolonged use of Talc can cause lung disease which I knew but never bothered to read the ingredients of what made up this product since we have been using it for generations :( Next was that bacteria eats corn !!! What the heck.. Normally behind his ears, behind his neck, the creases on his leg and behind his leg is normally wet, he mentioned that it's a great source for bacteria to grow which can cause an infection of his skin. LAWD HAVE MERCY. So now what??? I just now have to make sure that he is super dry and stop using the Ammens powder and hope and pray that he quickly outgrows this.

I will keep you posted

Luvs, Pampers or Huggies and the winner is ...

Everyone claims that their products are the best, but have they really put it to the leak lock test. In my opinion some of them don't have a clue. For example LUVS (FAIL) they leak, they fall apart, and they cost me more money and time as I have to change the kids clothes and bedding every time they pee. RIDICULOUS or as donkey from Shrek would say RIDONKULOUS  :-)

Next on my list is Pampers (FAIL) they are thinner ( true) but I really don't think the babies mind whether their butts look big in their outfits or not, I think they do mind when they are wet and swimming in pee. Maddi is a champion pee-er and trust me when he pees everything gets wet, so if these diapers can't hold his pee they all fail in my book.

Let's now take a look at Huggies, Huggies much better brand may be a little more pricey but gosh darn it if I have to spend a little more here and save on  Dreft then so be it, but not all Huggies work, the Little Snugglers doesn't work for us, the best one that I have found so far is Huggies Snug & Dry but I might have to get back to you all on this one as we have just moved over to size 3 and since we bought it I have to be changing their clothes and bedding more often too. I think we may try the little movers and if that doesn't work then I have to go back to good ole fashioned cloth diapers. I will keep you posted.

What brands work best for you? Let me know.

Until tomorrow
Chris

Dinner Date

After 6 full months we finally made it out the door and out to dinner with the twins.(Red Lobster) We talked about it, even planned for it but it just never happened. Last week hubby and I planned to go out for date night had my sis come over it was all set but between laundry, bottle washing kids tag teaming on their naps, and regular house hold chores we were just too tired yet again.
Normally if we make a plan to head out by 5pm we typically start getting ready by 3pm and normally we leave by 6..normally.
Of course we called ahead to make sure that we are weren't waiting for too long, and even requested 2 high chairs, instead they put us in a booth where we had to squeeze ourselves over and try to get the car seats on the table.
Trust me it was a whole new experience trying to look at the menus while Sani tried to eat it, or to grab it and throw it off the table, luckily there was not enough space for that. Madi is now our mini HULK, as he loves to stand tighten his body with his arms in front and growls and let's not forget how much he loves to wiggle at one point his head nearly hit my salad.
The food was good, Sani loves to eat whatever is on your plate so Adri had quite the time trying to feed her while feeding himself cus if you don't go fast enough she squeals at you.
The highlight of my evening was getting peed on by Maddox,Awesome job son. All in all good evening we made it back just in time for bed.

Bouncing Maddox

Jumparoo vs. Exersaucer

Sill undecided on this one as each kid loves both equally, Sani can only survive being in the Jumparoo for max of 10 minutes then she wants out, Maddi can only stand being in the Exersaucer for about 15 then he wants out. Maddi is a bouncing machine so needless to say he loves his Jumparoo, we have the Luv u ZOO, even when he is out of it he wants you to keep bouncing with him. Sani loves to stand and I think the Exersaucer gives her that feeling of independence so she can stand on her legs and play with her toys, better yet throw them off at the sides. We bought this one from the consignment shop.

Hey if it makes them both happy and keep them entertained long enough so that I can work, I give them both 2 thumbs up.

P.S. Don't mind the mess in the background that's our work space later we will address the issue of leaky diapers.

What can I do with my toes .. Let me count the ways

In between toting around over 31 pounds of wiggling babies, 2 bottles and the dog who is throwing his ball to me because apparently I have an extra arm to spare. I figured out that the next best thing are yup you got it MY TOES :) Who knew, well I guess I have been doing it for a while but it really clicked today like WOW Chris you're actually pretty good at this. Patting myself on the back :)
So today after morning nap came downstairs of course with both babies, grabbed bottles threw in the microwave, (yes; the microwave as they have no time to wait for the bottle warmer) Sani is crying, Madi is wiggling cus he's itchy and because he can multitask is also puking. Puke is everywhere, my hair, my clothes all over him and my slippers. Juno (dog) got to what was on the floor.. Good Puppy :) I grabbed paper towels started wiping up (still with babies in my arms) but then how do I get it off my slippers as this is now my main concern. (Go figure) So I threw the paper towel on the floor used my toes to grab it, wiped it off, use my toes to flip the lid of the garbage can and Voila!!! all done.

I do this with toys, burp cloths, Juno's toys you name it I gots it :) So now maybe I can say that I am an octopus:) with an arm to spare.

Attack of the itchy monster

Talk about itchy monster attack today. Poor Maddi he is one big ball of red, I feel so sorry for him and nothing we do seem to help. If anyone out there has any suggestions for us please pass it our way.

Initially we thought it was food allergies as big brother Troy is allergic to egg, wheat, dairy, all nuts, beef was also allergic to dogs and cats but outgrew that still allergic to mold and some environmental stuff but getting better. Dad is allergic to some nuts and shellfish and I am allergic to some fuzzy fruits and soy; so naturally we thought Maddi was developing allergies too. His skin is rough and cracked and sometimes wet, his head had scales but that is getting better with the Locoid cream that we are now using.

We have used Ammens powder, hydro cortisone, bathed him in plain water one day and the next with Cetaphil. I have rubbed him with NONI,CEROSEE, all the stinky stuff that my mom has told me to use. I have tried shea butter, coconut oil, corn starch you name it I have tried it.

We are now on our second allergist he has confirmed that he just has a bad case of eczema, with the possibility that he could develop food allergies in the future.

Prescribed meds don't seem to work, and they are so darned expensive we just feel so sorry for our poor little Maddi Moo. His crying and writhing just breaks our heart.

Sanaa' however has no issues with food lucky girl :-)

Talk soon

What a day

We had such a crazy day yesterday.. Babies were up at 6am did our normal regular routine ate, got dressed. Sani was a bit fussy not sure why, Madi was screaming at the top of his lungs while I got him dressed as he has really bad eczema and was ripping at his skin. I have been having symptoms of conjunctivitis and being Jamaican since I wasn't going outside to find dew water I figured I would use some extra strength salt water and burn out the virus :) So all around not a good start to the day.

My dad recommended that I stopped burning my cornea and go to the Dr, so I packed up the kids and off we went. Diagnosis IRITIS OMG what the heck is that apparently this is caused by some trauma of the eye, among many other scary findings I think I stopped listening to him as he started listing all the things that could be wrong. He recommended that I see an Ophthalmologist immediately.

Nurses were nice enough to have us hang out in the office while i fed, burped and changed the babies then off we went. Daddy came home so I could head to my 2nd appt. and the new diagnosis a severe case of conjunctivitis.. phew.. I am actually relieved that it is not Iritis.
Funny thing is I don't leave the house but one day a week where I head to the office and during lunch go to Target. DAMN TARGET....

Here's hoping for a better day today.

Let's play catch up

Wow so where did we leave off.. right.. so yup the babies are here and 6 months 3 weeks already can you believe it I know I can't.. Time has just flown by. Well that's what they say right "Time flies when you're having fun..and busy with 2 babies :)

So here's a quick summary of what's going on I went back to work the second week of October 2011, I work 4 days at home and yes with the babies and no I don't have any help during the days and Adri is home with them 1 day while I go to the office. How do I do it your wondering well some days I wonder the same thing myself... but as we go along I will go into details of our day-to-day routine.

They are now sitting up of course with some assistance, Sanaa' loves to hold on to any and everything and pull herself up to a standing position we think she is going to be the smallest and shortest little thing walking :)

Maddox is determined to crawl he does this wormy movement where he pushes his butt up, and then uses his head and butt together I may have to post a video of this one as it is harder to explain than I thought:)He also enjoys bouncing which is what he thinks you should be doing with him once your holding him Silly kid ..

Sanaa' now has 2 teeth and is furiously mouthing every thing in sight not to mention the drooling and puking she is definitely a puker. Maddox no tooth yet I keep saying he's waiting on the Easter Bunny but his gums are now a little swollen so I will keep you posted on that news.

Big brother Troy has been awesome with them, he helps out a lot they sure do get their fair share of kisses and big brother time as it is all about big brother when he comes home from school.
There will be much more to come so keep checking in.
