My poor baby Maddi pics

My poor baby Maddi

So as all you all know we have all been under the weather since last week. Sani is finally feeling better but she is so hoarse poor baby :-( she woke up around 4am this morning crying and I thought she was her brother she was so raspy. So we took her in and she slept with us until morning.
Maddox had a fever since Thursday and was throwing up a lot poor baby, and as a result was not producing any wet diapers, I called the peds and she mentioned that if his diaper was not wet within a 4hr period then I had to take him in to the ER. Thankfully he did make a pee yesterday but by the time I got home around 8pm it was already 3 hrs since he was changed and his diaper was still pretty dry.
Thankfully this morning when he woke up there was some sign that he went, but since I  changed him at 8am this morning by the time I was heading to the ER around 3pm or so there was no sign of pee. I took him to St. Barnabas while Adri stayed home with Sani, they had to stick my baby three times to find a viable vein because he was dehydrated and they finally found one in his foot.
Omg it was so hard 4 of us had to hold him down so the nurse to get it in. They gave him a chest xray because he is so congested and they wanted to rule out pneumonia, we found out that he has an ear infection and they felt so bad for him when they saw the severity of his eczema, my sister and I tried to explain to them that he was actually have an awesome skin day today but they still mentioned that his skin was quite inflamed and so they offered him steroids for the eczema, antibiotics for the ears, Benadryl for his itching, Tylenol for his fever and something else I can't remember what now...
Anyway, by the time they were all done prodding and poking my poor noot noot boy and he finally fell asleep there came a nurse telling me they had to take his temp.
Really people why do you all do this, I think nurses have a nap radar :-)
So thank God his temp dropped but we have to keep an eye on him and keep him hydrated as much as we can until we see his ped on Monday.
Good Night and check in Monday

10 Little Ladybugs or was it the 10 Little Ladybug Massacre!

Has anyone read this book written by Melanie Gerth? Great book, my babies love it, it is their absolute favorite out of all their stories. However the first time I read it I thought to myself wow this book is heading in a real dark direction as 1 by 1 the poor little ladybugs were being snatched up and allegedly eaten by frogs, birds and ducks then one of the ladybug who I thought was going to be the luckiest of all its counterpart by golly the wind blew him/her away.
Do I really want to continue reading this book to the kids, are all the ladybugs really going to die? Will the babies remember this and then have to see a shrink as they were traumatized by their mother for reading them the ladybug massacre at such a tender age . Well I thought this is just a chance we were all willing to take as its never too early to teach your kids to finish what they started right??
I think they were enjoying seeing the little bugs disappear :)
Well thank goodness as we turned the last page lo and behold all the little buggers I mean ladybugs appeared woo hoo ...
So here's for story time and happy endings

Mommy Time Out

Woooo...Saaaaaa .....Breathe ...... Wooo.... Saaaaaaaa... Breathe

I had to take a time out this morning, I felt as if I was going crazy, I woke up with a sore throat as Sani isn't feeling well, she developed a cold the day after surgery and she has been sneezing, coughing and sharing her snotty hands in my mouth all week, I'm surprised I'm just getting her cold. Maddi had developed a yeast infection in his groin, under arms and pretty much it is now spreading all over his body. Needless to say he is beyond itchy, the Dr said he is more susceptible to bacteria growth because of his severe eczema and his skin being raw most of the times, but we are treating it so hopefully all will be well soon.

So on top of all that waking up to 2 very fussy babies, with Ms. Sani screaming bloody murder most of the night. The cleaning lady came yesterday and I had to clean this morning. The sinks still had toothpaste in it, the toilets weren't washed, the floors weren't swept just seeing it all made me want to scream. So I took a time out and went outside and swept the porch :) The fresh air did me good, I really needed that and later today I am going to strap the babies in the stroller and take a nice brisk walk, I think we all need some good fresh air in our lungs.

Thanks for listening, Wooo....Saaaaa.

Childproofing .... Check

We can finally put a check mark on securing all cupboard doors, cabinets, sockets, stairways etc.I signed up for Amazon Mom recently and its awesome, we ordered all the gates and safety items on Thursday we received most of the items by Friday, and the rest on Saturday all with free shipping.
Adri spent the afternoon drilling and securing gates, while I did the remaining cupboards and stuff, nest we have to secure the drawers upstairs as Maddi's fav thing right now is to open my drawers and throw all my underwear out, or make music with the plastic bag in the trash can. (Silly Kids)

This morning while the kids were protesting that they couldn't get in the kitchen, I went to open the latch to pick Sanaa' up and the gate came swinging in my hand. Thank God it didn't happen while she was holding on it or when mini Hercules was holding on to it. Needless to say our house is made of paper but daddy is coming home to make some adjustments.

All is well

As you may or may not know, Sanaa' was born with fluids in her ear as she was not squeezed through the birth canal to eliminate the excess fluid that surrounded her. We have been taking her to see an audiologist since she was 4 weeks old and they have concluded that she has some minimal hearing loss.
About 1 month ago we took her to see Dr. Berg an ENT specialist and he mentioned that if the fluid hadn't drained from her ears by this month then we had to bring her in for surgery to insert small tubes in her ear to drain the fluid.

Well today was the day. She was not to eat or should I say drink any formula after 12 midnight but thankfully the nurse called and said she could have clear liquids up to 4:30 am so for the first time we offered her very diluted white grape juice around 3:15am. she drank about 1.5 oz of it.
We were up and out as we had to be there by 6:30am she was the first surgery of the day for Dr. B. and she was such a trooper, she was smiling, happy and babbling the whole time, I was surprised she wasn't wailing and needing her bottle she was a very brave girl. Everyone commented on how cute and tiny she was :)
At 7:38am Dr. B came in to explain the procedure again, we were both dressed and ready to go her in her gown and very big yellow socks and I in my scrubs, we walked back the anesthesiologist was having a hard time finding a mask to fit her face, I laid her down they were all talking to her and she was so very observant looking around and taking in her surroundings and then she started to cry. The nurses assured me that she would fall asleep faster as she wound be inhaling more and in just a few more cries she was asleep, it broke my heart to see her just zonk out like that so as I walked away I felt the tears coming, but there was a nurse there who told me that all the parents cried so not to worry she would be fine. Dr. B. said you won't have time for coffee she will be done in no time, and literally she really was.

All I had time to do was go to the ladies room to freshen up, grab a cup of coffee from the lounge and on my way back there was Dr.B. looking for me and telling me she was fine. Incredible!
When I walked into recovery she was screaming, it took a while to settle her down but all in all she is doing amazingly, she is a little cranky but that is to be expected.
Before Surgery with her big yellow socks :)
Me and my girl and below her trying to crawl away :)
Today is also the first day that they have been separated, I think Maddi noticed she wasn't here

First Play Date we had a blast !!

I have been trying to schedule a play date for the kids for months now, I tried inviting my neighbors over whose baby is just a few months older than ours the first date we had to reschedule as I had pink eye, the second time she rescheduled as her boys both had ear infections so I figured I would wait for her to reschedule but its been since February and she hasn't made an attempt to reschedule so I think I will try again right ?

It finally happened, on Saturday we found a friend they all had a blast. The kids BFF Matthew who is 13 mths old came to play with us on Saturday, it's amazing to see the growth in just a couple of months as he is walking now and he just seemed to tower over the babies and was just so independent.

They played really nicely together, he even went over and kissed Sani :) so cute, at one point they were all crawling on the floor together and at another point the babies figured well if he can walk we want to try that out  too so everyone was walking (holding on to something or someone of course) It was a beautiful day so we went outside and played around the exosaucer Matthew's main focus was to play with Juno as he kept following him around.

This is what it would be like if I had triplets :)
Look we are all crawling in different directions.. FUN
 I like her mommy
 Outside fun

Yay !!!! Play date Buds !

Busy Day

Where do I begin... Let's take it from the top shall we.
Now that both babies are crawling that now means more work for me, I thought infancy stage was challenging but NOOO the real work has just begun. On Monday Sani would crawl from the office to the hallway, and Maddi would just stare at her turn around hang on to my pants and pull himself up to standing and he would be happy. Tuesday Sanaa' decided that she would venture out and crawl towards the family room to check out her digs a little bit. Maddox was wiggling his way but just couldn't figure out how she was getting around so quickly, until Tuesday night when he figured out that his wormy shuffle worked and he crawled from our room to the nursery and back.

Yesterday a whole new world opened up for them both, the office has immediately become too small for all of us which includes Juno (dog) as Sanaa was pulling and trying to chew on wires for the computers, Maddox is trying to pull himself up on the day bed, so I decided to put my phone and lap top on the floor and had them in the living room where I was able to watch them.

Sani is crawling over Maddi, Maddi is holding on to Sani using her as a lever to try and stand up CHAOS, while we were on the floor I tried making a call out for work Maddox came over and hung up the phone, and at some point during the day Sani made a call out to someone named Kimberly :) What a day.

Adri has now moved us out of the office and into the dining room, which gives them enough space until we can get an enclosure to keep them safe hopefully by this weekend, I know we should have been more prepared but 2wks ago they were hardly moving, it's like they just hit fast forward on the development remote, someone please tell me where I can find the pause button...PHEW...

Just in case you were wondering Sani was back to screaming last night, Adri and I woke up with a headache this morning but good news Maddi slept :)

How to get my girl to sleep

Ok we are in a dilemma I cannot get my girl to stay down and sleep through the night. She was doing so well..
they both started sleeping through the night since 4 months with the exception of Maddi and his itching. This new adventure started about 3-4 weeks ago, she would either scream bloody murder once we put her down for bed or she would go down like a perfect angel but then wake up around 2:30 or 4:00 am and just scream inconsolably, most of the times we would cave and put her into bed with us as we were too tired to rock or pat her back to go back to sleep, some nights we did have her cry it out.

Now that she has figured out how to stand up in her crib OMG the bawling has increased, she grips on to the railings and she screams and screams and the worst thing is that her crying is now rousing Maddi, and trust me we do not want two crying babies in the middle of the night so yup back into bed she comes with us. This really cannot continue so tonight as I am typing she is still up her bedtime is normally 7:45-8pm but she took a late nap and would normally be in bed whether or not she woke up late, but to be honest we are tired and would love to have a good nights sleep so fingers crossed that the extra hr would have tire her out or it could backfire on us and she has now become too wired and can't sleep, I guess we will find out in a couple of hrs.
Fingers crossed and pray for us :) Shoot I hear her crying :(   Ok gotta go

Family Vacation

We are back from our trip to Canada and what a whirlwind of a trip it was from Brampton, to Ajax, to Markham to Mississauga to downtown wow can I tell you I need  a vacation from this vacation :) but all in all it was lovely I saw family members that I haven't seen in 20+ yrs, and let me tell you Canadians really know how to throw down. We were either invited over to lunch or dinner and each time we went it was a spread fit for a Jamaican King or Queen. I haven't ate such good home cooking meal in one week in a long time each visit we were served Oxtails, ackee and salt fish this was a staple in every house it seems, then there was rice and peas, jerk pork, fried dumpling, steam fish or fried fish, sweet potato pudding and lets not forget the sweet sweet bun and cheese mi favorite. Man did we eat.
I was so surprised when my son on his first day asked for seconds as he never does that, but I guess he was just warming up as each house he went to and was offered seconds his response was "Yes please" There was no time to be hungry and let me tell you we are all feeling the effects of the nyamings :) But it was soooo good.
It was great to see all the Aunts and Uncles ,Grandma's and cousins.
Thank you all for such a grand time and for all your hospitality. The twins had a ball I must say we really have great kids as they were great through all the road trips the only time they fussed was when we pulled over to a rest stop. We left right at bedtime and drove through the night and arrived just in time as they were gearing up to get their day started and during our road trips we normally left in time for their morning naps so it worked out well. Everyone commented how great they were as they were passed around and kissed and hugged like crazy.
It was great !!!
Check back tomorrow, I will post pics
